Good morning. I probably donโt know you, but itโs good to see you anyway!
You may or may not be a writer. If you are a writer, you may or may not write for Medium. I do. Both.
For me, sometimes, writing for Medium is largely experimental. And it changes. I write for a while, then I try to assess what works, or mainly what doesnโt work as well as I wish it did. Sometimes in my reading times, I run across something that someone else has found to work well, and I get anxious to try to incorporate that. So I do.
Sometimes Friday mornings are reserved, or at least used, by me for recaps and for introductions of NEW plans. Life, and obviously, at least for me, writing is full of new plans.
I donโt know what any given writerโs goal is for their writing in Medium.
Some hope to make a lot of money here because some people do.
Others are trying to build up their portfolio of writing, or sharpen their writing chops to be better writers, all for the purpose of their next step, whatever that may be. It could be freelance work. It could be creation or teaching or several other money-making activities.
In fact, probably none of us is going to make a living selling a few PDFs and some $27 video courses, or sharing a membership pot each month.
Alone.
After writing almost 500 Medium stories, I have about decided the key is multiplication rather than addition. While writing more stories is good, getting in front of more eyeballs has always been better. Whether itโs having my own publication, or my newsletters and mailing list, my plans have always ended up with that goal in mind. More eyes.
The plan I am polishing right now is one that causes me, upon the completion of a story, NOT then to start the next and the next, but instead to follow a checklist of about five or seven pretty simple items. It will consequently cause me to write fewer pieces, but with much better returns, and I canโt wait to share it with you soon.
So please stay tuned, and thank you for being a part of my family!
