A series…

Yes. There is a long line of reasons.
I went to a snooty private high school, I admit.
My two English teachers were nice ladies. They were proper, maybe a bit older type, the kind who would lunch on proper homemade chicken salad sandwiches in proper Tupperware containers in the teacher’s lounge while grading our papers.
They would always walk with small, quick steps so as never to be construed as being relaxed.
They were all business.
I recall one of our homework assignments was to discuss in an essay a particular character in a story and her growth throughout it.
I proceeded to write my homework regarding the heroine of the tale.
I received the assignment back the next day with an 85 grade, and her remarks that heroine was a drug, and certainly not a part of that story.
Of course, I reacted as would any other student, and did not complain about the 100 that I felt I had earned and not received, but rather expressed my gratefulness for the 85 she had given me.
I am not certain why the series of misunderstandings we had during my high school career should amount to such animosity on the part of the teaching staff, but I let you decide for yourself.
More petty than proper, if you ask me.
Thanks for your time!
