Tonight, the television that usually only offers hour after hour of Frazier reruns instead offers two wonderful choices at the same time. It does make it hard for me to decide what to watch.
We have self-aggrandizement on parade on one channel, as the Country Music Association hands out accolades and awards for the accomplishments of its members. It’s a dramatic and voyeuristic peek into the dramatic private and/or imagined lives of country music stars both from back when it still was country music, and then also after it became rock.
Red carpet. Klieg lights.
Tonight will also reflect the battle of the PR peeps of Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan, two ships who pass in the night, just looking for a series, so they won’t end up with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s PR peep, who only can get people onto Sunday Morning with Leslie Somebody.
Then on the other channel is the current (read non-rerun) series of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D.
As Hank Voight says, “Don’t let me come back here and find you watching something else. Do you understand me?” *squeezes my face*
Cage. Silos.
So the choice is not an easy one as to whose lives I’m gonna be peering through the window at tonight.
And, of course, wouldn’t you know, my Betamax is broken.
I wonder if that would make a good story…
I would be remiss if I did not add that I actually ended up watching the country music stars, and this time they comported themselves rather well. Peyton and Luke were funny, and there was a good bit of very good music. It even sounded more “country” last night. A Splendid Showing!
