Why Do I Write?
That is a very good question. It is one that has an answer that is never fully formed, I suppose, as it changes and matures as we, ourselves do. Today, I am going to examine two.

That is a very good question. It is one that has an answer that is never fully formed, I suppose, as it changes and matures as we, ourselves do. Today, I am going to examine two.
The reasons I write today are perhaps different from the reasons I had as a younger person.
My mom.
My mom always fancied herself to be a writer. We always had copies of Writer’s Digest around our house, including their yearbook, or whatever they called the big one.
In those days, since we were way before the internet, that magazine served her in two respects. Inspiration and information.
I imagine I am somewhat like her in some regards. I take inspiration from seeing the success stories. and I always search for any pieces that I have so far missed that will catapult my works to the bestseller lists.
Today, all I have to do is search the internet, and there probably are already a couple of programs that can do that for me
So that’s one — I probably got it from my mom.
The entertainment.
Two is that I write for my own entertainment.
Another thing I inherited is my sense of humor.
A bit of the time when I am speaking or writing, what I am saying is humorous to people and sometimes, even to me. Sometimes people laugh at me. Sometimes, doctors refer me to another doctor. My kids would roll their eyes. Many people would unsubscribe to the place they were finding me.
Final word.
When someone unsubscribes or rolls their eyes, yes, it hurts me a little. but to be truthful, when I like it, it entertains me. It’s worth it. To me, a good belly laugh is worth at least a hundred unsubscribes. Maybe more.
