Writing a short non-fiction book can be wonderful for me for several reasons. Here are the top three reasons I like to whip out a short non-fiction book when I need it. They may be different for you.
1. They are quick to write and publish
A shorter non-fiction book requires less time to write, edit, and publish compared to a full-length book. Mine often come in at 3500 or 3700 words. This efficiency offers its benefits.
Faster to Market, they let me quickly address timely topics and trends, making the content relevant and potentially more appealing to readers.
Reduced Writer’s Block, a shorter project can be less daunting, helping my poor brain maintain better momentum and motivation throughout the writing of it.
The ability to test ideas with shorter books lets me test the market with new ideas or concepts before committing to a longer, more comprehensive work.
2. They can be focused and deliver impactful content
Short, non-fiction books allow me to concentrate on specific topics, offering concentrated insights and practical advice. This focus can be very appealing to readers who appreciate clarity and precision. By avoiding unnecessary filler, I provide clear, concise, and valuable information that readers can easily digest and apply.
Niche Expertise for specific problems can attract and help a dedicated audience looking for more targeted solutions.
Short books can deliver high-impact and powerful messages or actionable advice quickly, making them particularly useful for busy readers who want immediate value.
3. Accessibility and Affordability
Short non-fiction books are often more accessible to a wider audience in terms of both reading time and cost.
Many readers appreciate the convenience of shorter books because they can be read t in one or two sittings, making them perfect for busy lifestyles.
Cost-effective, shorter books are typically priced lower than full-length books, making them an affordable entry point for new readers to discover my work.
A broader audience can expand my reach and influence.
Last words
Writing a short non-fiction book offers me the advantages of quick production, focused and impactful content, and increased accessibility and affordability for readers. All these benefits make short non-fiction books an excellent choice for authors looking to efficiently share their knowledge, address specific topics, and reach a wider audience, but mostly for me, a way to drag myself out of ant type writer’s slump or block.
