Yep, this story is just trash!
Social media.
In the world of social media and sometimes Medium, when a reader stumbles across something that is mildly amusing or relevant to him, it's a sign of good upbringing and politeness to "like" or "follow" the creator.
I mean, you're right there, and you only have to push a button and walk off feeling good about yourself.
It's not like having to tell your senior prom date you are really not ready to get married.
Example.
But let's say you "followed" somebody one night when you and Captain Morgan were just doing some light reading. Then, in the bright light of the next day, you are invited to read another story by the one who was last night's, Douglas Adams.
You start to read it and only are able to grind through three or four paragraphs before you realize this author has somehow morphed into a genuine piece of crap.
Remember, ignoring that writer is easier than "unfollowing" them. Less work. Less guilt.
I think this phenomenon partially explains how a writer with a bus full of followers can publish a story that nabs about three or four reads after a week.
The answer.
The answer is that the author still needs to be a better writer. OK, he's a pathetic writer. He may eventually get better, but he is still coyote ugly as a writer.
The trick for him is not to take it personally.
Instead, be grateful I have just explained to you what so many are calling algorithms. That is a fool's way of explaining their inability to write.
Once those of us in the same boat can come to grips with it, the easier life will be for us. We write trash.
You're welcome. I hope that helps.
Thanks for reading!
