TUESDAY, 9-5-23 Stop Using the Word “Consistency” Regarding Your Writing (BTWriter Club 🔒)
It has almost become trite and meaningless.

Often heard and even repeated
I have been writing a good while and I have often heard and even repeated the advice that newcomers to the writing life should embrace and employ the concept of consistency in your writing.
Consistency, though, I am finding, is not exactly the key phrase I thought it was.
What I really should have been saying is “do it all the time.” Do it every chance you get, every day, for sure!
Sadly, I had a stroke not long ago, and I had the choice of lying in bed or relearning to walk. That was sort of like becoming a writer. I would not really have benefitted from a bit of consistency in my therapy and exercise.
All the time
Instead, I started trying to walk all the time. That worked.
So now I say to you that writing weekly may be consistent, but if you want to get better quickly, you should consider writing all the time!
