Freezin’ Writer Squeezin’s

Not only is it Friday, but it’s also a “SNOW DAY!”
My beautiful wife works, as we say, “off-ranch” at a nearby elementary school. It is not a long commute, just over a couple of hills.
But every year there comes a day when the weather acts a bit surly, and the school director calls “SNOW DAY” because of the worry about some school buses getting over the hills.
We all turn into kids.
Even though our ranch life has little to do with the snow, it is exciting nonetheless.
The question is, “does the writing just quit when something exciting is going on?”
The answer in a word is “no.”
The stories still have to be fed. They still need to get some exercise. The barn still needs to be cleaned out.
It’s true that they do the work of growing themselves, but they still need support personnel at Writer Squeezin’s Ranch.
So the thing to remember is that our life is outcome-based. It’s all about hitting “submit.” Even if the kids from the school are on holiday.
The beautiful part of the holiday is that after you do your work, you are also free to enjoy yourself with the kids.
Before I discovered my auto self-writing story process, I tried to write a certain amount of time or number of words each and every day. The best thing to do is to pledge to yourself that you will do so daily.
Now, I need to have enough young stories in the growing process to be able to hit “submit” for a fresh one as frequently as I want, whether once a week or twice a day. Set your desired number and work backward.
Just don’t take a snow day.
