Still Struggling with Newsletters
I know it gets better.
Yes, this update, I did start to publish yesterday, but that didn’t work out. I do think I’m getting better though, even though I’m discouraged right now.
Here is what I realize I have discovered recently.
Most of my readers know I have a touch of MS.
A year ago, it seems I had a stroke, as well, and had to spend the first half of the summer in the hospital trying to get back to my magnificent former self.
I do miss me. A lot. I miss all the stuff I used to do on my own. Sometimes I even whine and mope about my condition. I have to use a walker or a wheelchair to get around. I only type with one hand.
But, you know, even after a year (earlier including physical and occupational therapy,) I am still discovering little things, small improvements that will let me stand up or sit down more gracefully. or get through the doorway to the bedroom without accidentally ripping out the doorframe.
I feel as though I score a success every time I discover something new to me that everyone else takes for granted. I am thankful to both Jesus and, my wife, Saint Peggy.
Tie this back to my writing life.
You know I am going to tie this back to my writing life. I can read how-tos, watch YouTubes, and take courses forever, but how something works for me and fits into my own life remains a mystery to me until that ah-ha moment of personal discovery.
That’s why I call my endeavors “real-life writing.” Just theories about how to walk don’t cut it anymore.
But when I find a more pragmatic scheme of what to do 1, 2, 3, even I can handle that.
Final thoughts.
This is what I suggest to new writers and writer wannabees.
Decide what you want to write first. Devour everything you can find on the subject. Put your knowledge into a simple-step process.
Do it and see how it works for you.
Tweak it if you need to. Then write down your steps. Share them if you’d like.
Keep doing it.
