My Mom used to call it “slapping some sense into ya!”

The point we try to make here at Writer Squeezin’s Ranch is that we don’t make you learn to sit in a leather wing-back chair and spout lines about “the rich being different” like F. Scott did.
We teach our new writers to get down with the struggle. Like “into the valley of death rode the six hundred!”
Life is not pretty.
Some of us are real decent-looking, that’s true, but life, in general, is just no fairy tale. And we hope you learn to show that in your writing. You’ve got to barf it out and polish it up.
Not everybody can be like me and have their work write itself. Most of you will have to learn how to do it on your own.
Write.
Write some more.
Learn what you are doing.
Learn some more.
Start over.
Although I do sell writing lessons, I don’t really know how to write. Since I discovered that my stories do better going into the next room and writing themselves, I don’t really write that much anymore.
So, for a couple of bucks you can come and hang out with me just to see if it starts working for you too, but don’t look for any startling revelations.
Lesson number one is to get up each day and write. Once you get that down, the rest is graduate-level and your tuition will be a lot more expensive.
