Re-stockpile for re-surgence — a quick weekend jumpstart.
Some are predicting a continuing problem in 2023.

You’re feeling good about restaurants opening back up, and you’ve used up most of what you stored up as you grew more relaxed. Now some people are saying it’s not over. Now, what do you do?
You don’t have a lot to spend on freeze-dried chicken and dumplings right now, and you really don’t want to look paranoid about this. What you may need is a painless, low-visibility way to restart your prepping.
I recommend you begin with rice, beans, canned vegetables, canned meat, oatmeal, and honey. Start with being sure you have enough for 2 or 3 days, then 2 weeks, and then a month. I also suggest you consider not relaxing your supplies in the future. As you find it appropriate to consume something, replace it so you seek a fairly constant level of necessities.
If you are like most people, you are probably going to go to the grocery store sometime this weekend. Whether you go on Fridays or during the week, I don’t know, but it doesn’t really matter. Whenever you do go just grab some extra stuff. This amount we are describing is probably an extra $20, so if you can’t part with that this week, get half of it. Just remember your mission.
But what I’m going to ask you to do is to spend about a total of $20 on your decision to get back into the current stockpile. We are talking about adding a few non-perishable items when we go to the grocery store. We are looking to get canned meat and canned vegetables. Of the things that aren’t canned, we will get some oatmeal, some dried beans, and some dried rice. As the last item, we probably get some honey.
Canned vegetables 15oz .33-.70 x 6 = 4.20
Canned meat 10 oz chicken 2.00 x 2 = 4.00
Honey 12 oz 2.99 = 3.00
Dried beans 1 lb .89–1.25 = 1.25
Dried rice 32 oz 1.49 = 1.50
Oatmeal 42 oz 4.49 = 4.50
That means for about $20 plus a few pennies including tax, you have enough that will not only blend into the rest of whatever you’re buying, but also be a good start on the first two days, and some items even more than the two days of your stockpiling.
Now you are successfully built up to a 2-day stage, and you can move on to the two-week stage. You can do this two or three more times, or you can expand this plan a little bit. Maybe you can add a little bit of tuna and some different types of dried beans. And grab some “walking around money “ while you’re out!
