Unless your New Year resolution is to do something you’re already doing, you are asking for trouble.
Habits take a while to form. Some say twenty-one days. Some say more.
And the more complicated or difficult the habit you wish to cultivate, the longer it will take.
Or you could simply do something difficult for yourself for an entire year without making it a habit. That would be called torture.
Consequently, for me, I tend to take some of the non-productive pressure off early on.
I make new-month resolutions and new-week resolutions.
When I master a couple of those, I can go to a new-quarter resolution.
It’s just easier for me when I don’t start out pre-defeated.
