HUMP DAY - WED, Dec 20, 2023 - BLOG EDITION Are you a robot? Is this the Humpster or a Hamster?
Try as he may… he may have lost his Wednesday touch.
As Maria Muldaur taught us many years ago, Camels don’t live in deserts where cacti grow, much less cast-off tires. And they certainly wouldn’t be all happy and smiling about it if it ever did happen. A puzzle.
OK. Seems like every day I have a new plan.
If fact they come and they go. I try something in my writing, evaluate its results, and usually make a few changes. Lately, there has been a bit of a moving target, but, hey!
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
Maybe not a Hemmingway, but stronger.
Today’s new plan is this. I will try to publish at least one non-funny (what is that word… “serious”?) story each weekday. I will have one or two “on-platform” and one or two “off-platform” links.
I will not beg, grumble or whine. I will see what I can cultivate.
I’m not sure if I can last a whole week, but wish me luck! In fact, I’m not even sure what I just said.
Thanks!

My Deck is Under Construction
Photo by Randy Fath on Unsplash
Me and a couple of my buddies at halftime of the Alabama game last week, decided to build me a new deck. We had been drinking a lot of beer. Being limber helps prevent falls. Limber=nimble=accident-free.
It was quite fortuitous that I use a walker, because last night, I forgot the deck was gone and started out onto where it was before. my walker saved me by falling out first, and waking me up to the fact that the step was pretty big.
In a second, my walker looked as though it was a Volvo that had tangled with a CSX train.
Wouldn’t you know, I had previously removed my lucky bracelet, so I learned a good lesson there.
Actually, it was the ambulance peeps who had cut it off a couple of weeks ago in order to start an IV on me, but that’s saline under the bridge.
I am excited about the new deck, though. We’re using composition faux-wood this time, so, hopefully, it will last longer than it looks like I will.
Incidentally, the picture is actually that of a group of Amish builders who won the bid, and are building Nashville’s new domed stadium.
STILL SEARCHING FOR A NICHE… and here is my new profile picture to go with it.
