How Writing Nerds Make More Money Than The Rest of Us Do - SAT, Apr 20, '24
Is there a system?

First, I guess we need some definitions.
Three types of writers
There are three types of writers in this world.
1. The new, unedited Rough Crowd Writers, who write as much as they can willy-nilly, and try to learn everything there is about writing and incorporate it as quickly as possible, even if the results look and sound awkward.
2. The Writing Nerds, who keep a low profile, but still keep everything. They keep copious notes on carloads of notebooks to which they can refer eventually when they do start a story. To the writing nerds, life is only a footnote.
3. The Misc Writers, whose names are John Steinbeck or Ernest Hemingway. They are born solid gold. Even when they were tiny infants, excellence would pour out of their bodies. Every pore, not just the standard places.
How they each work.
Rough crowd writers work with the theory that even a blind hog could find an acorn every once in a while. Along with the theory that you have to crack a lot of eggs to make mayonnaise. They finish and submit numerous stories, some of them good.
Writing Nerds are constantly preparing to write that story or novel. No one could ever accuse them of being half-baked. When they do hit publish, what comes out is usually a masterfully intricate and well-thought-out piece that gets boosted automatically. They sometimes end up with more reads than there are members of Medium.
Misc Writers are social influencers. the whole world waits for their next grunt or scribble to know what to do next with their own lives. They order bank deposit slips by the case.

The image above resembles my closet. I am a member alternately of the first two groups, but never the third. The only time I was a social influencer was with an accidental pant-load in my pre-kindy class.
