As I have mentioned previously, both Medium and the writers rarely mention amounts made, for obvious reasons. So I am still searching for a definitive answer about the big-time Medium writers. I guess it helps me shape some of my own goals.
Not that I am anywhere close to their league, but itโs not smart to shoot for the moon in a room with eight-foot ceilings. So I keep looking.
Some of the biggest incomes of medium writers
How much money Medium writers make, depends on a variety of factors such as the popularity of their articles, their level of engagement with readers, and how many Medium subscribers they have. However, Medium offers a Partner Program that pays writers based on the engagement their articles receive from Medium subscribers.
Letโs look at this carefully. This tells us that two similar articles of similar lengths with equal numbers of reads would make different amounts. One would make x dollars, but an otherwise similar article where the writer received and replied to more comments would make more money for that story.
A similar article with similar reads would make more for the writer who had more actual subscribers doing the reading.
I have started going back through my 750+ stories, and I am starting to see that seems to be the case.
I like being formulaic โ the BIG THREE.
That tells me, Mr. Simple, to start concentrating on three things.
More subscribers
More reader dialogue
More Medium member recruits. (We already knew this one.)
According to Medium, the amount paid to writers can vary widely, with some writers earning hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month. However, itโs important to note that the vast majority of Medium writers likely earn much less than this.
