How My Coffee Today is Like My Story Catalog
The grounds are running the asylum, like my headlines!
The grounds are running the asylum, like my headlines!

Somehow the gate got left open this morning and these coffee grounds got out with only two ways to go.
Looking at my cup contemplatively, I notice that a small number are floating. I know, from experience that a larger number are lurking at the bottom of the cup, waiting patiently for discovery.
The floaters are like good, eye-catching headlines I write occasionally that either make my story get read or making it get avoided by the reader.
But the last to be discovered are the cowardly ones on the bottom that end up leaving unwanted residue in the reader’s mouth.
Either a reader reaches a point where he wishes he hadn't gone that far, or he gets called away before he can finish his coffee.
