Friday Back Pages
Present and accounted for.
Writers are funny people.
Unless they are like me and just THINK they are funny. Then other people think they are sick.
But several times in my life I’ve had people ask me, “Where do you come up with all that stuff you say?” Several times they don’t say “stuff.” A few times, I have heard different doctors and medical personnel ask my wife if I’m like this all the time…
Then, she may softly suggest they could sedate me.
Actually, I was going to say writers were funny because, on so many levels they are never compliant with laws, codes, and suggestions, but in other ways, they are suckers for what readers tell them.
I have read many times before that there is no use writing on the weekend because no one reads on the weekend.
I, myself, have witnessed herds of Medium writers down at the river, wading by the banks or dozing in the sun, snapping at flies and mosquitoes. This usually begins on Thursday afternoons and continues well into the following week.
I think, however, this may be a self-fulfilling prophecy, though, because the few times I have slipped the surly bonds of earth and written/published something on the weekend, it seemed well received by a hungry audience of readers.
Notable exceptions, of course, would be my friends, David Perlmutter of
and Lawson Wallace of both of whom seem to work around the clock.(More excitement to come)
I work a lot, because I don't have a life, and I do enjoy your stories. Thank you so much for the shoutout.
