Yep, I’m still me.
And I still feel great!
In the middle of the night, last night, I was awakened by a type of hum, like that of snow tires at a highway speed on concrete or perhaps that of a shop vacuum. I have to get to my piano to know exactly, but the frequency of the hum is a bit above middle C and not cyclical and never diminishes nor changes its frequency. It reminded me of Stephen King’s “The Langoliers.” I will figure it out eventually.
It’s not like tinnitus, and it is mostly in our house, as though it’s radiating from all the walls.
Oh, the life of a mystery writer!
And I’m not a mystery writer. Yet. Maybe sometime…
A deficiency of unsubscribes
I do stand back, from time to time, and look at the big picture of where I am as a blogger/writer, and find myself a bit lacking in unsubscribes, so I decided that perhaps this is a time for a statement of my beliefs again. I do not get into political statements or arguments, as most of you know, but so I won’t be lukewarm either, I make a statement of my beliefs occasionally. If you end up guessing I am with a certain party, well that’s on you.
I believe that business exists to make a profit. It does so by giving people a product or service they want or need. It should not be driven by government grants. Economic laws cannot be legislated.
The government should stay in its own lane.
Equal opportunity does not always mean equal outcomes.
I believe God is my CPA. God of my Creation, my Provision, and my Abundance.
I try to pray every morning. if you would like for me to put you on my prayer list, let me know. The power of prayer is awesome.
I believe we are all here for a reason.
I believe in the sanctity of life.
I am far from perfect.
I am not here by accident.
It is FREE to subscribe here, so I try to make it silly not to.

Medium Writing vs. Blog Writing
It’s the old “Cowboys dance with the farmer’s daughters” question.

Territory folk
Yes, they should get along like Oklahomans, but there are distinct choices of sides going on here, too.
Just this week, I read a Medium article that mentioned that blogs were dead. Again.
And another claimed that the death of blogs was completely exaggerated.
I read in one place that Medium was an important part of the cycle of life for a creator’s creations, and there was no place finer to build a mailing list.
I, myself, began to treat the subject here, on Medium concerning the read numbers of my forgotten blogs, which had continued on their own, while all my attention was devoted to Medium.
To make matters even worse, I looked at the comparison even deeper today, at least dealing with my writing, and I say that because I know there will be differences between mine and everyone else’s, especially those who can write well.
Under the ‘scope.
I received an email this morning from Medium, regarding the fact that last week my writings Had received 319 reads, and it told me how many people had honored me by following my stuff and how many had subscribed.
That’s when I looked a bit closer. Last week on Medium, I received those 319 reads across about 960 stories, divided by my followers who numbered 4.9 K.
I am comparing these figures to an old blog of mine which is about a topic that you might not think was terribly exciting.
It has zero subscribers or followers because I was not sophisticated to that point yet. The stories and blog entries were haphazard and numbered around 418 total entries.
Look both ways in the traffic.
On the most recent day of the graph for that blog, it received 298 reads, as compared to some daily Medium reads of single digits, and 319 for its entire week.
The chart of my blog showed me that the one week there had rendered 7739 reads of 418 stories as compared to 960 stories on my Medium site.
In fact, the traffic was such that I applied for and was accepted to an advertising platform to work along with my Amazon Associates platform, and I am able to compare in a real-time manner, the money each is making.
Theoretically, there could be longer mailing lists, too.
So, I am not one who thinks that blogs are passe’. Now I have discovered they are a valuable tool in my journalistic arsenal, and can be used symbiotically to improve my overall results.
Last words.
I love Medium. You know I love Medium.
I also have Substack sites and other blogs.
The more I can diversify, the more eyeballs I get on my writing. And that’s what I really love the most!
