[COPY] Carry A Few Index Cards During The Day To Write An Article For Medium
In many ways, it’s better than the little notebook.

All my adult life, I have carried a mini-composition book in my back pocket.
They’re cheap, and they hold daily to-do lists in chronological order. They hold random thoughts you may want to think more deeply about later. Or write about.
Recently, I’ve heard about, and taken to, using 3x5 index cards along with my notebooks. I never just switch technologies at one time. I go more slowly. I usually try to graft a new technology onto my life. I end up doing two things concurrently, so I don’t accidentally delete some practice I need.
Notebooks keep the days in order forever. Cards can be organized. But you need a box into which they can all be tossed at the end of the day.
Let’s say you decided today you were going to write your article on cattle spit. At the end of the day, you would have used up a chunk of your notebook, or you could have a few 3x5 cards to put in order and start your writing.

Carrying a few with you throughout the day can be a helpful strategy for capturing ideas, insights, and inspirations for writing an article on Medium, for instance. Here’s how you can effectively utilize index cards for that purpose.
