CAN I START WRITING FOR MEDIUM IN TEN MINUTES A DAY?
You can absolutely start writing for Medium in just ten minutes a day! While ten minutes might seem short, it’s enough to build your momentum and start getting some content out there. Following is a quick plan to help you make the most of those minutes.
Set a Clear Goal
Each day, focus on one part of the writing process, brainstorming, outlining, drafting, or editing.
Day 1. Come up with 2 or 3 topic ideas or headlines.
Day 2. Outline the main points for one of those topics.
Day 3-5, Write an introduction, then the body in small sections.
Write Micro-Stories
Medium doesn’t require long posts. Shorter, more concise articles can perform well. Make your stories around 300-500 words at first. For example, a brief opinion, life tip, or an inspiring story can be very popular. Stories can be as short as needed- 150 words is a “short form” story in Mediumville.
Engage with Your Readers
In between your writing sessions, use a few minutes to interact with other Medium articles—leave comments, follow writers you like, Clap for stories that resonate with you. Engaging with the Medium community will help your work gain more visibility.
Batch Write
You could focus on drafting a couple of stories one week, editing another, and publishing on a set day. This may help you stay productive without feeling rushed.
Build on Normal Progress Gradually
As your ten minutes becomes a regular habit, you may find yourself naturally spending more time or being able to write faster within that timeframe.
With consistency, these ten-minute time investments can lead to steady progress and, eventually, a solid presence on Medium. I find myself having less time than I would wish some weeks, so I find a little, is infinitely better than none!
