After I eat lunch, I get back to my computer diligently, but that’s when the trouble begins. I start getting very sleepy, and I’m not sure how to fight it.
There could be several reasons why you feel drowsy or sleepy after lunch while sitting at your computer.
One of the main reasons could be related to your circadian rhythm or your own internal body clock. Our bodies naturally experience a dip in energy levels in the early afternoon, which can make us feel sleepy or drowsy. This dip in energy levels is a natural response to our body’s sleep-wake cycle and is often referred to as the “afternoon slump” or “post-lunch dip”.
Another possible reason for feeling sleepy after lunch at your computer could be related to your eating habits. Eating a large meal or consuming high-carbohydrate or high-sugar foods can cause a spike in blood sugar levels, followed by a drop in energy levels. This, of course, can contribute to feelings of sleepiness or drowsiness.
Finally, sitting at your computer for an extended period of time without taking a break or moving around can also contribute to feelings of sleepiness or fatigue. This is because prolonged sitting can cause a decrease in blood flow and oxygen to the brain, which can lead to feelings of lethargy and possible brain fog.
Or you could be writing an article for publication, but your writing style, like mine, is incredibly boring.
To fight these feelings of sleepiness or drowsiness, you could try taking a short break after lunch to move around or stretch. You might eat a lighter and more balanced meal, or adjust your sleep schedule to ensure you’re getting enough rest at night.
Additionally, some people find that taking a power nap or drinking a cup of coffee or tea can help them feel more alert and awake after lunch. You could choose a more exciting topic to write about.
Or you could just remember that a nap is more fun than proofreading.
