But who’s counting?

It’s not too awfully many in the total scheme of things, but a lot if you are the one doing the writing, perhaps.
There are two writers.
Writer A is practicing on his story until he is pretty confident it is great “journalism.”
Writer B went ahead and wrote his story and submitted it for publication.
Towards the end of our tale, Writer A has one story, albeit a highly polished story.
Writer B has dozens, all getting slightly better in succession.
For instance, Malcomb Gladwell mentioned the value of the 10,000-point of repetitions regarding almost every imaginable endeavor.
Regarding The Beatles, in the book The Outliers he wrote…
“All told, they performed for 270 nights in just over a year and a half. By the time they had their first burst of success in 1964, they had performed live an estimated 1,200 times, which is extraordinary.”
The idea is not to wait to start. I don’t wait until all the traffic lights are green before I start driving across town, any more than any of us, when we were toddlers, waited until our balance was perfect before we started trying to walk.
Back to #92.
I have been with Medium for about three months now, so ninety-two is not a huge amount of writing. But the more I write, the more I am satisfied with my writing. Most of the time.
But I read early on, that by my one-hundredth story, the very hand of Mark Twain would reach down from heaven and present me with a golden pen, and people would suddenly start liking my work.
That, and a couple more goals are what I am after. They get closer every day.
So if you’re not clapping now, you just wait ’til Mark Twain gets here.
