4 Imaginary Concepts Used by Youthful Medium Members
Buzzwords right here expose me as a chronological oddity.
As a writer at Medium, I find that I am also a reader here as well. I have noticed an alarming trend to include two or three new words increasingly as topics used in a lot of stories.
I write this not to criticize the authors but rather to be gentle encouragement to swerve less out of our lanes of understanding and keep your eye on the old highway of non-technical communication.
I will try to touch on some of these here that may occasionally blur in the perception of those of us who are a bit longer in the tooth.
Coding
This subject is hot. It must include alphabet letter combos and occasionally deal with invented or imaginary currency.
It may deal with the invention of software, websites, or apps. [sic]
It should always use unexplained abbreviations.
Content Creation
This is a cottage industry for people able to code and make websites but then find themselves with nothing to say or put in the websites.
Passive Income
Things you do once and get paid for laterโฆ last yearโs corn crop, a book or song you wrote, mowing the Smithโs yard while theyโre on vacation, or a savings account.
Better yet, they might be things you never do but still get paid for, like jury duty/gift card phone businesses and panhandling.
Retirement
This is an exciting concept for the young who are still looking for a place to fit in, but a frightening concept for folks who wake up in the mornings with nothing to do but still have the ability and desire to be a part of society.
Conclusion
Thank you for reading my geezer-like rants concerning the progress of civilization on past my hieroglyphic days. I promise I will try to bore you less with my more incomprehensible writing topics like my senile dementia, my social security amounts, or the guy who charged me to repave my driveway and then disappeared.
